The role of development and protection of recreation areas in tourism development (Case study: Royan city)

Environmental protection, resorts, and tourism development are closely related to each other, so that the relationship between them must be established in such a way that they benefit from each other over time. With the development of the tourism industry and the sudden increase in tourism to a region, irreparable environmental effects are imposed on the environment. To reduce the destructive effects of the tourism industry on the environment, methods must be adopted so that while developing this industry, there is no damage to the environment, and in this way, the environment can help develop the tourism industry and be useful for improving the economic conditions of cities; therefore, the purpose of this research study was to examine the role of developing and protecting resorts in tourism development. In this study, the city of Royan was purposefully selected as a case study, and with the help of a descriptive analytical method, the opinions of citizens and tourists were collected using a questionnaire, and the relationships between the research variables were tested using SPSS software and a statistical test of the correlation coefficient. Finally, with the help of the opinions of citizens and tourists, while emphasizing the preservation of the environment and the development of resorts in the prosperity of the tourism industry and the improvement of the economic conditions of cities, solutions such as those experienced in the city of Royan are proposed.
