The impact of tourism industry development on the urban economy (Case study: Royan city)

Planning and development of the tourism industry is an important issue that has been at the forefront of income generation sources for some countries in the world in recent years. Tourism has long had suitable potential conditions in Iran, but due to some considerations, it has not actually found its place in terms of economic benefit. As it has been in the tenth place among the countries of the world in terms of tourist attractions, it does not have an important place in terms of economic income. Therefore, the purpose of this research study was to examine the impact of tourism industry development on the urban economy.
In this study, the city of Royan was purposefully selected as a case study and with the help of descriptive analytical method, the opinions of citizens and tourists were collected using a questionnaire and the relationships between the research variables were tested using SPSS software and the Chi-square test. Finally, with the help of the opinions of citizens and tourists, strategies are proposed to develop the tourism industry and improve the economic conditions of cities, such as what was experienced in Royan.
